Harvest Lunch

What a lot of work went on behind the scenes and on the day to make it such a wonderful meal! Many thanks to all involved in so many different ways and to all who attended.

Our latest Harvest Flower Gallery is almost ready

The church is still decorated with harvest arrangements but the baskets brought by the children from school have been distributed but here’s what they looked like:-

If you weren’t able to get into church over the Harvest period you will soon be able to see pictures of some of the floral decorations by visiting the Gallery section of the website and selecting Flower Galleries and then choosing the season and areas you wish to view.

Here’s a taster of what you will see:-

It’s not too late to “Come and join our celebrations”

P1110887Were you able to visit St Wilfrid’s over the weekend and see the wonderful displays?

If not, why not pop in, it may be wet outside but there’s a warm welcome inside and so much to see for all ages. . . . . . .

Due to popular demand and a willing group of volunteers we are able to keep church open for longer during the coming week.

Join us to see ‘Flowers fit for a queen; and much, much more.

If you enjoy seeing the church decorated for special events why not come into church over the Celebration Weekend (beginning on Friday the 10th June) to see how the Church Flower Team have arranged themed flowers to enhance this special event. There will be so much more to see and do over the weekend (in church and in the Parish Hall) including music, exhibitions, tours, a children’s quiz and refreshments, look out for leaflets and posters around the village.

We look forward to seeing you there and helping us celebrate this special event.

The 2015 Harvest Flower Gallery has arrived

Behind the Scenes at Harvest Lunch 2015

This year 80 people attended the Harvest Lunch on Sunday 27th September. Preparations took place in the Parish Hall on Saturday 26th and here are some of the team who were involved behind the scenes.

The Parish Hall was beautifully decorated ready to receive everyone.

On the following Monday 32 parcels made up from Harvest gifts given by Year Six pupils from school, and the ABC group, were distributed to elderly and sick members of the Parish.

New Altar Frontal

You may have noticed we have a beautiful new altar frontal which was dedicated during the Harvest Service on September 26th.

It will be used at various Church Festivals throughout the year.

The frontal was commissioned and donated by Margaret and Gordon Bibby in commemoration of their Ruby Wedding Anniversary.P1020380

The designer, Juliet Hemingray, based her ideas and colour scheme around the images in the East window.
